Samsung And Nifty Gateway Collaborate To Create The World’s First NFT-Based Smart TV Platform

Samsung has taken another major leap forward in terms of innovation by embedding an NFT marketplace into its new line of smart TVs, allowing people to partake in some of the Web3 frenzy from the comfort of their own homes.

Nifty Gateway, the world’s largest marketplace for NFTs, announced a collaboration with South Korean technology giant Samsung to create the world’s first smart TV NFT platform for discovering, purchasing, and trading digital treasures.

The ground-breaking collaboration makes use of Nifty Gateway’s custodial wallet solution, which securely stores customers’ possessions rather than requiring them to use an external wallet. Additionally, clients can purchase NFTs using a credit or debit card or bitcoin.

Samsung Has Been Interested in NFTs Since January

Samsung announced its entry into the NFT market in the first week of January, stating that these digital assets would be integrated into the company’s television products.

Samsung did not reveal much details at the time, except that it would launch the world’s first smart television product line equipped with NFT technology.

Nifty has been integrated into Samsung’s NFT platform for usage in the company’s premium television product lines beginning in 2022, including the QLED and Neo QLED TVs.

According to a press release from Samsung, Nifty also offers a dedicated app for The Frame and MICRO LED products.

Samsung-Nifty Collaboration Brings NFTs Into Residential Environments

Clients may now study, display, and interact with NFTs from the comfort of their own homes, thanks to the combination of the two firms’ technologies. Additionally, viewers will have access to over 6,000 works of art by emerging and known artists alike, including Beeple, Pak, and Daniel Arsham.

Samsung asserts that it has sold more than 60 million smart televisions globally to date. This means that by working with Nifty Gateway, Samsung expands the user base for NFT trading, hence fostering the growth and adoption of this emerging technology.

Duncan Cock Foster, co-founder of Nifty Gateway, states the following:

“The objective of Nifty Gateway is to bring NFTs to a billion people by empowering creators and streamlining the process by which customers buy, sell, produce, and hold NFTs. We are devoted to making NFTs more accessible and purchasing them more convenient than before.”

A Few Quick Facts About The Businesses

Nifty Gateway is a marketplace focused on Ethereum that was founded in 2018 by brothers Griffin and Duncan Cock Foster and acquired by cryptocurrency exchange Gemini in 2019.

Samsung has been a global leader in the technology sector for over 15 years, producing not just high-end televisions but also screens, smartphones, and laptops, as well as encouraging the development of consumer-friendly applications.

As a result of this collaboration, Samsung and its clients will benefit from authenticated digital art, enhanced custody technologies, and payment flexibility.
