The Sandbox joins forces with gaming behemoth Ubisoft to bring the Rabbids to the Metaverse

The Sandbox, an Animoca Brands subsidiary and decentralized gaming virtual world project, announced a partnership with Ubisoft, a French video game business, on February 8. Ubisoft will have its own territory in the virtual metaverse, according to the announcement, and the world will begin with voxelized copies of Rabbids’ characters.

The Sandbox collaborates with Ubisoft, a multiplatform game franchise owner, to bring IP elements to the Sandbox gaming universe.

According to a corporate announcement, Ubisoft and the Rabbids are heading to the blockchain-based virtual environment The Sandbox. Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, Tom Clancy’s, Prince of Persia, Rabbids, and Rayman are some of Ubisoft’s most well-known multimedia franchises.

“Strategically partnering with Ubisoft to integrate Ubisoft game IP aspects to The Sandbox gaming metaverse,” according to The Sandbox. To begin, Ubisoft will bring characters from the Rabbids franchise, a Rayman spin-off video game.

The Rabbids video game franchise is immensely popular, with Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle selling over 7.5 million sales as of mid-June 2021. According to June 2019 statistics, the whole Rabbids video game series has sold over 20 million units worldwide.

The Rabbids video game and television series has grown in popularity over time, with IGN stating in 2006 that the game is “engaging and addictive, and the title’s sense of humour is in a league of its own.” Ubisoft has previously taken a step into the world of non-fungible token (NFT) technology by exhibiting NFTs based on the Tezos blockchain in Tom Clancy’s gaming franchise.

Ubisoft will create an entertainment zone with interactive experiences in The Sandbox metaverse. Voxelized versions of Rabbids’ characters and things will be presented, according to a press released. Ubisoft’s senior manager of new business and partnerships, Guillaume Mammi, said the company is excited to join the blockchain metaverse.

“We’re thrilled to introduce the Rabbids to The Sandbox community and to provide gamers the ability to build their own unique experiences using components from our gaming IP.” “We’re excited to see how they personalise the Rabbids’ world,” Mammi said.

The Sandbox is an obvious new fun playground addition to the lengthy line of Rabbids world invasions, and a terrific opportunity for Ubisoft to experiment with a metaverse experience for its brands, according to the Ubisoft executive.

‘Ubisoft has proven its ability to stay at the forefront of innovation,’ says the co-founder of Sandbox.

The Sandbox’s native toke sandbox (SAND) is ranked 36 out of 12,474 cryptocurrencies in terms of top crypto market capitalizations. SAND is currently valued at over $4.6 billion on the stock market, and its value against the US dollar has increased by more than 3,400% year to date.

According to cryptoslam.io, The Sandbox is the ninth-largest in terms of all-time NFT sales, with $364.1 million in sales. The SAND token is third in market valuation among the $22.9 billion worth of metaverse-based tokens, behind decentraland (MANA) and axie infinite (AXS).

Since the project’s beginning, The Sandbox has formed collaborations with a number of well-known brands and celebrities, in addition to Ubisoft. Adidas, Warner Music Group, Atari, The Smurfs, Care Bears, and Snoop Dogg are among the partners.

“Ubisoft is a global game firm that has proven its capacity to stay at the forefront of innovation,” said Sebastien Borget, COO and co-founder of The Sandbox, in an interview.

“As we work together to build new opportunities for gamers, fans, and creators with blockchain and Web3, we welcome Ubisoft into the open Metaverse,” the Sandbox CEO continued.
