“Massive” SMS Phishing Scam Warns Binance CEO

Changpeng Zhao stated that certain Binance clients have received an SMS informing them of a withdrawal from their account with a fake link to cancel it.

Earlier today, Binance CEO Changpeng “CZ” Zhao warned of a “huge SMS-based phishing scheme” that uses a link to a website that harvests Binance users’ passwords.

“NEVER click on SMS links!” Use a bookmark or enter in http://binance.com all the time,” Zhao said.

Despite Zhao’s warnings about SMS phishing scams in general, a Binance official stated he wasn’t stating there was only one specific fraud targeting Binance customers.

How many Binance users were scammed, how many were scammed, and how much money was at risk were all questions that remained unanswered.

Even on the most reputable exchanges, customers have been cheated in a variety of methods. Crypto.com subscribers had roughly $34 million stolen from them on January 17th when their accounts were hacked.
